Restaurant boss’s brutal response to ‘self obsessed’ family who left bad review

A Blackpool restaurant gave a brutal response to a “self obsessed” family who left a negative review on TripAdvisor.

A woman, known as DebbieW on the website, complained after she and her family were turned away from West Coast Rock Cafe.

She claimed that staff refused to seat her family, which included two adults and six children, when they visited the restaurant before lockdown in October, LancsLive reports.

The family-owned business blamed the customer for not making a booking despite coronavirus restrictions.

The reviewer, whose profile says she is from East Yorkshire, said: “Refused to seat a family of 2 adults and 6 children despite the fact we said that 3 older kids could sit alone.

“Spoke to manager who was extremely unhelpful. Not had this issue with any other place.

“Turning a very large order down there especially at these times and for no reason. Management is very poor! I hope they own it!”

The restaurant, which has a 4.5 out of 5 rating on TripAdvisor based on 1,973 reviews, wrote: “Thanks very much, we do own it! 33 years and counting.

“If there are more than 6 of you it is probably best to check before turning up. Common courtesy I would think in these difficult times for businesses.

“There are a some very self obsessed people about that’s for sure.”

The restaurant, which was established in 1987, is well known in Blackpool for its burgers, steaks, fajitas, ribs and milkshakes – and offering diners a free meal on their birthday.

Due to lockdown, the eatery has now been forced to close but they are operating a delivery service which is free to most parts of the city.
